Seitan stew with vegetables is a great vegan main dish, light, tasty and ready in minutes.

This meat replacement dish made with seitan is a viable alternative achievable with a few common ingredients such as carrots, celery, onion, soy sauce and olive oil.

  • 17.6 oz seitan
  • 2 big carrots
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1 white onion
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/5 cups white wine
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • salt


  1. Peel and wash the vegetables, then chop the onion and dice the celery and carrots.
  2. Pour oil and onion in a pan and when the onion is wilted, add the celery and carrot, and let them stew too.
  3. In the meantime reduce the seitan into cubes.
  4. Add the seitan in the pan with the vegetables and then pour in the white wine.
  5. Lastly add a tablespoon of soy sauce, adjust salt if necessary and add the chopped parsley.


  • If you want, you can add to the stew several other vegetables, such as tomatoes, zucchini, bell peppers, cut into cubes or strips and stew all together, and then add them to the seitan, following the recipe.
